Q 1: Should a husband give his wife a monthly allowance (Part No. 21; Page No. 165) in addition to providing her with all her needs, such as food, clothes, etc?

A: A husband is not required to give his wife a monthly allowance as long as he provides her with her necessary demands, such as food, clothes, etc. May Allah grant us success. Q 2: Does a husband have the right to spend his money as he wishes as long as he does not disobey Allah? A: Yes, a husband has the right to spend his money on anything as long as it is within the limits of the Shari`ah (Islamic Law) and as long as he obeys Allah. Allah (Exalted be He) says about the attributes of the believers, And those who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes). And, And let not your hand be tied (like a miser) to your neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach (like a spendthrift), so that you become blameworthy and in severe poverty.
