A man rescuing a woman although he is not her Mahram

337

Q 4: A woman was burned and suffered a painful disease or or was about to die without any Mahram (spouse or permanently unmarriageable relative) with her, and she needs someone to relieve her or to help her say Talqin (encouraging someone dying to say: “La ilaha illa Allah”), is it permissible for a man who is a neighbor, who is non-Mahram, to rescue her from the fire, or carry her in his car to the doctor, or help her to say Shahadah, as we know that a woman should not be in a state of Khulwah (being alone with a member of the opposite sex) with non-mahram men. However, we hope that you give us the legal opinion concerning the mentioned cases. May Allah reward you the best.

(Part No. 17; Page No. 280)  A: If the reality is as you mentioned, there is nothing wrong with a non-mahram man to rescue her from being burnt, or to take her to the doctor in her car, or help her to utter Shahadah. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
