A man works in a non-Muslim country and was forced not to fast during Ramadan

Q 2: A man worked in a non-Muslim country. He was forced not to fast during the month of Ramadan, and he died after he returned to his country. What is the ruling on this case?

A: If a person dies before making up for the days of fast he missed in Ramadan, then any of his heirs can fast on his/her behalf if they want. The Prophet (peace be upon him) is reported to have said: If anyone dies in a state (that he had to complete) some days of fasting, his heir must fast on his behalf. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
