My mother got married to a non-Muslim person
since 1967 A.D. My age at that time was five years old. I have been asking my step-father since 1986 A.D. to embrace Islam but he does not want to while my mother is eager to embrace Islam. Before 1981 my mother begot any children, but later she begot five children from this man. Should my mother abandon her husband in order to practice the rituals of Islam? Should she marry a Muslim man? Should she stay with her non-Muslim husband and practice the rituals of Islam? What should she do according to the Islamic Shari`ah? It is worth mentioning that my mother and I live in two separate places far from one another and she is 46 years old.
A:
Your mother has to part with this non-Muslim man (Part No. 18; Page No. 267) and she should marry another Muslim man. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
