Q 3:
How should my relationship be with my husband's brothers and other male family members?
I, thanks to Allah, wear Niqab (veil) and thus they cannot see my face. Is it permissible for me to talk to them when we co-live in the same home, of which we have our own independent part? Is it permissible for me to ask about those among them who fall ill?
A:
If the reality is as you have mentioned, it is permissible for you to talk to them, ask how (Part No. 17; Page No. 405) they are and generally speak with them on lawful topics as long as you are not soft and tender in speech and do not stay alone with those among them who are not Mahrams (unmarriageable relative) to you. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
