A woman going out on a trip with male and female colleagues

Q: I live in Germany and I have a mature daughter. The school asked that she goes out on a trip with her male and female colleagues, where she will stay for a few days away from home without a Mahram (spouse or permanently unmarriageable relative). What is the Islamic ruling on this issue? Please, substantiate your answer with evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah.

A: It is impermissible for a woman to go out as such as it entails free mixing of the two sexes and a woman traveling without a Mahram. Thus, it is obligatory on the father to prevent his daughter from going out as such in order to safeguard her against contingent evil consequences. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
