A woman traveling with her parental cousin

449

Q 3: I am a poor widow with no sons, siblings, or parents; I am just under the Mercy of my Lord and Allah will do with me as He wills. I am an elderly woman, and I have no one to provide for me or my daughter, but I have a paternal cousin with whom I go to Makkah. He has two wives, whom I consider as my sisters, and I go everywhere with them in their car, such as to ‘Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) or hospital visits. Is what I am doing sinful, as I have no other relatives than him? Please advise me on the permissibility of going on ‘Umrah with him, is it permissible or not?

(Part No. 17; Page No. 339)  A: It is not permissible for a woman to travel except with a Mahram (spouse or permanently unmarriageable relative), and your paternal cousin is not a Mahram for you, nor are his wives. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
