(Part No. 5; Page No. 220)  The second question of Fatwa no. 8684 A man who works in painting furniture uses a solution of alcohol and a gummy substance which causes the formation of layers of it on his hands that prevent water from reaching the skin when performing Wudu’ (ablution). What is the ruling on the Wudu’ of this man and offering Salah (Prayer) behind him?

A: All praise be to Allah Alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, and his family and Companions. If the case is as you mentioned, that a substance leaves a thick layer on some parts of that man’s body which must be washed (in Wudu’) preventing water from reaching the skin, his Wudu’ and the Salah he offers with this Wudu’ are both invalid and he must not be followed as an Imam (the one who leads congregational Prayer).May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
