You and your wife have to repent to Allah (Exalted be He) immediately because
breaking fast in Ramadan without a legal excuse is a major sin. It is obligatory on each of you to perform the expiation, (Part No. 9; Page No. 226) which is to emancipate a believing slave. If this is not possible, you must fast two successive months. If this is not possible, sixty poor persons are to be given food. As for making up for the missed day, you said that both of you fasted a day in place of it and that is enough.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
