Dealing with the father who commits sins

A: Continue to advise your father with wisdom and fair preaching and argue with him in a good manner to show him the ruling on these evil substances. May he listen to your advice and may Allah forgive him. However, if he insists on consuming these intoxicants, keep away from him when he does, do not help him consume them, and behave kindly with him in this world. Allah states: And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship up to: But if they (both) strive against you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not; but behave with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. Then to Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do. (Part No. 25; Page No. 153) May Allah grant us success.
