Q:
My father's will provides for a sacrifice to be slaughtered as well as Iftar (breaking the Fast) in the Masjid (mosque). The revenues of the Waqf (endowment) exceed the money in the will by about 350,000 riyals. What should we do with the extra money? Should we build a Masjid or distribute the money among the inheritors or what should we do?
Kindly give us your Fatwa.
A:
The rest of the money should be used to buy food and distribute it among the poor in Ramadan, and this should be after slaughtering the two sacrifices and providing the necessary restoration of the house as stated in the testator's will (may Allah be merciful to him). May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
