Dogs touching clothes

437

Q: We live in the United Kingdom where non-Muslims keep plenty of dogs. Sometimes, it is hard to avoid dogs, when going out and coming back home. It gets tougher when we are closer to the Masjid (mosques) than home, and it is hard to go back home to wash or change the clothes the dog touched. What should we do? (Part No. 4; Page No. 197

A: As long as the saliva, sweat or blood of a dog does not come into contact with your body or clothes, your Salah (Prayer) is valid. The dog merely touching your clothes does not make them Najis (ritually impure), and you should not wash or change them for this reason.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
