Blood donation breaks Sawm because it is similar to cupping. The Prophet (peace be upon him) is authentically reported to have said:
The cupper and the cupped have broken their Sawm.
The same ruling applies to the person who receives the blood transfusion, as this will break their Sawm.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
