Exceeding the proper limits in praising the Prophet

Q 3: What is the ruling on excessively praising the Prophet (peace be upon him)? What is your opinion on this saying: "O Allah, send Your blessings on Muhammad, the cure and treatment of hearts, the good health and remedy of bodies, and the light of sights" while the person believes in these meanings?

A: These words are full of exaggeration and extremism in praising the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) prohibited this kind of exaggeration when he said, Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians praised the son of Maryam (Mary). This description makes the Prophet (peace be upon him) a source of treatment and cure of sicknesses. Indeed, this matter is only within Allah's Power. Al-Khalil (Prophet Ibrahim) said, "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. So the belief that the Messenger (peace be upon him) (Part No. 1; Page No. 162) heals ailments is an act of Shirk.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
