It is not valid to count the debt that your uncle owed you as Zakah. This is considered protection of your money. It is obligatory upon you to pay Zakah to its deserving recipients mentioned in the Ayah (Qur'anic verse) in which Allah (Exalted be He) states:
As-Sadaqât (here it means Zakât) are only for the Fuqarâ’ (poor), and the Masâkin (needy)
