The Hadith: 'Teach your sons swimming and archery...'

Q 8: Is this a Hadith or just a saying of one of the Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet): “Teach your sons swimming, archery, and horsemanship”?


A: We have not found this Hadith in this wording, but some parts of it have corroborating reports showing that there is some basis to it, as mentioned in "Kashf Al-Khafa'" by Al-‘Ajluny and "Al-Jami‘ Al-Saghir" by Al-Suyuty. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
