It is impermissible for a wealthy person who can afford to pay his debts to procrastinate in paying them, as it was authentically reported from
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
Procrastination in paying debts by a wealthy man is injustice. When one of you is referred for payment to a wealthy man, let them be referred.
Agreed upon its authenticity by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
