Q 1:
Is it permissible to hire a non-Muslim servant or driver?
What about hiring an atheist?
A:
It is impermissible for a Muslim to hire a Kafir (disbeliever) servant or driver in the
Arabian Peninsula because the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered Muslims to get the Mushriks (those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity or worship) out of the Peninsula.
This is also because in doing so, one is drawing close to those whom Allah (Exalted be He) kept away and is trusting those whom He (Exalted be He) accused of being faithless. In addition, such employment may lead to numerous evil consequences. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
