Is it obligatory on the person who has one of his feet cut off to perform Hajj?

Q: I am forty-five years old. I have not performed Hajj before as my work conditions did not allow me to do this. I had a car accident and one of my feet was cut off and the other one was badly injured. Ever since, I have been on iron crutches. I can move only for a few steps. I cannot throw Jamarat (stone pillars at which pebbles are thrown during Hajj, Jamarat-ul-`Aqabah being the closest to Makkah). I cannot walk to the Al-Haram (the Sacred Mosque in Makkah) to perform Sa`y (going between Safa and Marwah during Hajj and `Umrah) and Tawaf (circumambulation of the Ka`bah). (Part No. 10; Page No. 34) I cannot stay three days in Mina. Benefit me, may Allah safeguard you. Is there anything wrong if someone performs Hajj on my behalf?

A: You have to perform Hajj and make Tawaf and Sa`y while using a wheelchair or carried by someone. You should also stay for some time in `Arafah and Al-Muzdalifah. You may ask someone to throw Jamarat on your behalf. Unless you are capable of staying at Mina, nothing will be required of you. However, it is not permissible for you to ask someone to perform the rites of Hajj on your behalf as along as you are physically capable of performing them.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
