Q: Is it permissible for a father to act on behalf of his son in concluding the latter's marriage contract, if both couple agree and two witnesses testify to this?

A: It is permissible for a father to conclude the marriage contract on behalf of his son if the latter - who has to be of age - entrusts him to be the Wakil (legally accountable person who acts on behalf of another for a specific permissible matter). The marriage contract is valid if it fulfills all the required conditions and essential elements and has no impediments. May Allah grant us success.
