Is there any limit for profits in Islam

336

Q 4: Is it permissible for a merchant to have a profit margin of more than 10%?

A: The earnings a merchant may make are not limited by Islamic law. However, it is not permissible for a Muslim to cheat customers by selling his goods at a price that differs from the going rate in the marketplace. Islam teaches Muslims not to seek exorbitant profits, but to be lenient when buying and selling. The Prophet (peace be upon him) urged us to be merciful and tolerant in dealings with others. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
