It is not permissible for the Junub to recite the Qur'an

348

Q: What is the ruling on reciting the Qur'an while being in a state of Janabah (major ritual impurity related to sexual discharge), whether from memory or from the Mus-haf (copy of the Qur’an)? What is the ruling on passing through the Masjid (mosque) for a person who is in a state of major ritual impurity?

A: All praise be to Allah Alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, and his family and Companions. It is impermissible for a person who is Junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) to recite the Qur’an before performing Ghusl (ritual bath following major ritual impurity), whether from the Mus-haf or from memory. Moreover, they are not allowed to read from the Mus-haf unless they are in a state of full Taharah (ritual purification), whether from major or minor ritual impurity.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
