Land granted by the government to citizens

934

Q 7: It is said that the land the government grants to citizens has to be utilized within three years otherwise the ownership thereof will go back to the state. What is the extent of the validity of the foregoing?

(Part No. 15; Page No. 440)  A: If the ruler or his deputy stipulates this in the grant paper, such a condition is valid for it falls under the competence of the ruler. On the other hand, the fact that someone did not utilize the land for the period which is mentioned in the question is an indication of their inability or unwillingness to reclaim it. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
