Looking at women and its consequences

498

Q: My sins are many. They are due to looking at women's `Awrahs (parts of the body that must be covered in public) which I am aware is Haram (prohibited). It is the television that seduces me to commit such a sin. We have in our home four television sets that I regard as four devils. It is worth mentioning that another sin results from the first one (Part No. 17; Page No. 18) which is ejaculation of sperm by rubbing against a pillow.

A: You have to make Tawbah (repentance to Allah) and Istighfar (seeking forgiveness from Allah) for Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) forgives all sins. Allah (Exalted be He) says: O you who believe! Turn to Allâh with sincere repentance! And: And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but afterwards seeks Allâh’s Forgiveness, he will find Allâh Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And Allah (Exalted be He) says: Say: "O ‘Ibâdî (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allâh: verily, Allâh forgives all sins. Truly He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. However, there are some conditions for the validity of Tawbah which relates to the rights of Allah. Such conditions are acknowledging the sin, regretting committing it, and intending not to commit it again. On the other hand, Tawbah which relates to the rights of human beings should fulfill the foregoing three conditions with the addition of a fourth condition which is returning the rights to the people it is due as long as this is possible. You have to recite the Qur'an abundantly while you contemplate the meaning thereof and act upon it. You also have to make Da`wah (calling) to Allah (Glorified be He) and try to avoid temptations to commit sins as much as you can. Finally, you have to make Du`a' (supplication) to Allah to protect you from indulging in sins; to make marriage easy for you, and to grant you (Part No. 17; Page No. 19) chastity, virtuousness, and contentment. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
