Q 3: What is the ruling on
a marriage contract of a pregnant woman?
Is this contract valid?
A:
The `Iddah (woman's prescribed waiting period after divorce or widowhood) of a pregnant woman who is divorced or whose husband died is to stay until she gives birth to her baby. Allah (Exalted be He) says:
And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is until they lay down their burden
If a marriage contract is established for a pregnant woman, it will be void. Marriage can not be based on this contract. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
