Q 40: Some
medications or confections that contain small amounts of alcohol are sold in markets.
Are they permissible to consume, bearing in mind that when a person eats much of these confections, they do not become intoxicated?
A:
If the amount of alcohol contained in these confections or medications is so small that they do not cause intoxication, it is permissible to consume and sell them. The small amount of alcohol becomes Tahir (ritually pure) and does not affect the taste, color or odor of the overall medication or food. However, it is not permissible for a Muslim to use or even help in using alcohol in preparing products or foods for Muslims.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
