Q: A man
died before paying the Kaffarah (expiation) which was freeing a bondsman.
What must his heirs do in this regard? Please reply, may Allah reward you!
A:
The cost of freeing a believing bondsman should be taken from (Part No. 21; Page No. 290) the estate of the deceased in case of the Kaffarah of the involuntary manslaughter. If the deceased was poor and did not leave behind enough money, it is permissible for any of his relatives to fast for two consecutive months on his behalf, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated:
If a person dies before making up for their obligatory fast, their heir must fast on their behalf.
.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
