If the reality is as you have mentioned, it is permissible for you
to sell the sheep and spend their value in charitable ways such as building and maintaining Masjids. Keeping them in their first condition is unacceptable. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
