Q 3: Is it permissible for a Muslim to
raise his voice in the presence of his parents when discussing religious matters with them?
Will their Du‘a’ (supplication) against him be answered, even though he is trying to give them advice?
A:
Allah ordered Muslims to be good and dutiful to their parents and to treat them kindly and gently. Allah (Exalted be He) says (what means):
And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.
And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young."
Your Lord knows best what is in your inner-selves. If you are righteous, then, verily, He is Ever Most Forgiving to those who turn unto Him again and again in obedience, and in repentance.
(Part No. 25; Page No. 145) Through this noble Ayah (Qur’anic verse), you learn that it is not permissible for a Muslim to yell at their parents; it is obligatory to be polite and humble to them. Their Du‘a’ against their children are very dangerous and are likely to be answered, especially when the children are unjust to them.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
