Reciting Qur'an and authentic Prophetic supplications as Ruqyah

369

Q: What is the ruling on Ruqyah (recitation for healing or protection) with the Qur'an, Adhkar (invocations and remembrances said at certain times on a regular basis), and Du`a' (supplications) that were authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him)?

A: It is permissible to make Ruqyah with Qur'an, Adhkar and Du`a' that were authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) to provide protection and cure for illnesses. One can recite Ayat-ul-Kursy (the Qur'anic Verse of Allah's Chair, Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255), Surah Al-Fatihah, Surah Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu`awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and Al-Nas). One can recite the Du`a' of the Prophet (peace be upon him): Remove the affliction, O Lord of mankind, and bring about healing as You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your Healing; a healing that leaves behind no ailment. (Part No. 1; Page No. 257)  I seek Refuge with the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and poisonous pest, and from every evil, harmful, envious eye. This is in addition to similar Adhkar.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
