Resorting to birth control while breastfeeding

318

Q: Is it permissible for a woman who has recently given birth to take contraceptive pills to prevent pregnancy for two years until the end of the breastfeeding period, and then stop in order to get pregnant again?

A: If the reality is as you mentioned, that successive pregnancies will hurt her and taking contraceptive pills will not hurt or prevent her from conceiving again after two years, she is permitted to take them. Otherwise, she should not. (Part No. 19; Page No. 316) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet, his family, and Companions.
