Do pigs and dogs carry exactly the same ruling? Is there evidence to support their similarity in every respect?
A:
They have the same ruling with regard to the prohibition of eating their meat. They differ with regard to owning them. It is not permissible at all to breed pigs, or to sell or buy them. As for dogs, it is permissible to own them for purposes of hunting, farming and guarding sheep.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
