It is lawful to send peace and blessings on the Prophet and it has a great merit, but reciting the Qur'an is better. Both do not contradict one another, as they can be done together. Moreover, those who prefer sending peace and blessings on the Prophet (peace be upon him) are a misguided Sufi order called Al-Tijaniyyah. They consider reciting the alleged Salat-ul-Fatih (Remembrance from the Tijaniyyah order) written by
Al-Tijany better than reciting the Book of Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He). They are greatly misguided and this is a Bid`ah (innovation in religion). May Allah protect us!May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
