Q 4:
Should I perform Wudu' (ablution) after Janabah Ghusl (full ritual bath to cleanse of sexual discharge)?
(Part No. 4; Page No. 164) Sometimes during Ghusl or when I put on my clothes, it happens that I touch my private parts. Should I perform Wudu' again in such cases?
A:
The Sunnah (action following the teachings of the Prophet) for the Junub (person in a state of post-sexual ritual impurity) is to perform Wudu' first then Janabah Ghusl, as this was the manner of the Prophet (peace be upon him). If one intends to remove the major and minor ritual impurity by washing the whole body, it counts as sufficient. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Actions depend upon intentions, and every person shall have but that which they have intended.
If, however, Wudu' is not performed before Ghusl and no intention is made to perform it during Ghusl, then Wudu' should be performed after Ghusl. The same applies in the case of touching the genitals during Ghusl, in which case Wudu' should be repeated due to being invalidated by touching the genitals.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
