Is betting lawful?
A:
Betting has the same ruling as gambling, it is not permissible to bet on anything unless it is declared as Mubah (permissible) by the Shari‘ah (Islamic law), as in the competitions of horse or camel racing and archery, for the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
Competitions are allowed only in three (activities): Shooting arrows, camel racing or horse racing.
