Q: I am a female teacher of religion, graduated from Al-Kuliyyah Al-Mutawassitah; Islamic Studies Department.
I have read some books of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). My question is: What is the Ruling if I answer religious questions of students according to my knowledge i.e. by using Qiyas (analogy) and Ijtihad (juristic effort to infer expert legal rulings), without getting into rulings of Halal (lawful) and Haram (unlawful)?

To commence:
You have to refer to books and try hard to find an answer, then you are allowed to give the answer that you think is most probably the correct one and there is no blame on you in doing so. But in case you are not sure of the correct answer, you have to inform them of this and promise them that you will try to find out about it. Then you can answer them after checking more sources or asking scholars to guide you to the correct answer which is based on proofs from Shari`ah (Islamic law).May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
