The Hadith: 'Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Surah Ya-Sin'

Q 1: Following are some Hadiths that I would like to know their degree of authenticity: (Part No. 3; Page No. 261) 1- Qutaybah and Sufyan ibn Waki` reported on the authority of Humayd ibn `Abdul-Rahman Al-Rawwasy from Al-Hasan ibn Salih from Harun Abu Muhammad from Muqatil ibn Hayyan from Qatadah from Anas that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur'an is Surah Ya-Sin. Anyone who recites Surah Ya-Sin, Allah will grant him the reward of reciting the Qur'an ten times." Abu `Isa said: "This is a Hadith Gharib (a Hadith with a single narrator usually at the beginning of the chain of narration) which we do not know except from the narration reported by Humayd ibn `Abdul-Rahman and in Basra. They do not know the Hadith reported by Qatadah except from this narration. In addition, Harun ibn Muhammad is an unknown Shaykh. Abu Musa Muhammad ibn Al-Muthanna reported on the authority of Ahmad ibn Sa`id Al-Darimy from Qutaybah from Humayd ibn `Abdul-Rahman a similar narration. In the same chapter, it is reported from Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, but it is not authentic because of its Sanad (chain of narrators) which is weak. In the same chapter, it is also reported on the authority of Abu Hurayrah in Sunan Al-Tirmidhy, and there are no similar narrations of the Hadith."2 - Sufyan ibn Waki` reported on the authority of Zayd ibn Habbab from `Umar ibn Abu Khath`am from Yahya ibn Abu Kathir from Abu Salamah from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Anyone who recites Ha-Mim (Surah Al-Dukhan) at night, seventy thousands angels will seek Allah's Forgiveness for him until the morning." Abu `Isa said: "This is a Hadith Gharib which we do not know except from this narration. Also, `Umar ibn Abu Khath`am is a weak narrator." Muhammad said: "He reports Hadith Munkar (rejected Hadith reported by a weak narrator whose narration conflicts with an authentic Hadith) (Part No. 3; Page No. 262) [Al-Tirmidhy alone related it]."3- Nasr ibn Abdul-Rahman Al-Kufy reported on the authority of Zayd ibn Habbab from Hisham Abu Al-Miqdam from Al-Hasan from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Anyone who recites Ha-Mim (Al-Dukhan) on Thursday nights Allah will forgive him." Abu `Isa said: "This is a Hadith which we do not know except from this narration. Also, Hisham Abu Al-Miqdam is a weak narrator. He did not hear reports from Al-Hasan from Abu Hurayrah. This is the opinion of Ayyub, Yunus ibn `Ubayd and `Aly ibn Zayd (Al-Tirmidhy alone related it)." 4- Muhammad ibn Bashshar reported on the authority of Muhammad ibn Ja`far from Shu`bah from Qatadah from `Abbas Al-Jushamy from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A Surah consisting of thirty Ayahs interceded for a man until he was forgiven – Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion (Surah Tabarak). Abu `Isa said: "This is a Hadith Hasan (good Hadith) from (Sunan Al-Tirmidhy)." 5 - Huraym ibn Mis`ar Al-Tirmidhy reported on the authority of Al-Fudayl ibn `Iyad from Layth from Abu Al-Zubayr from Jabir that The Prophet (peace be upon him) would not go to bed until he had recited Surahs Al-Sajdah and Al-Mulk. Abu `Isa said: "This is a Hadith reported by many narrators from Layth ibn Abu Sulaym with a similar wording and is narrated by Mughirah ibn Muslim from Abu Al-Zubayr from Jabir from the Prophet (peace be upon him) with a similar wording." Zuhayr reported it saying: "I said to Abu Al-Zubayr that (Part No. 3; Page No. 263) I heard it from Jabir." Then he mentioned the Hadith." Abu Al-Zubayr said: "It is Safwan or Ibn Safwan who told me about it. But as if Zuhayr denied that this Hadith is reported from Abu Al-Zubayr from Jabir from `Inad from Abu Al-Ahwas from Layth from Abu Al-Zubayr from Jabir from the Prophet (peace be upon him) with a similar wording." He said: "Huraym ibn Mis`ar reported on the authority of Fudayl from Layth from Tawus who said: "They exceed every Surah by seventy rewards." (Sunan Al-Tirmidhy, and there are no similar narrations for the same Hadith).6 - Muhammad ibn Musa Al-Harshy Al-Basry reported on the authority of Al-Hasan ibn Silm ibn Salih Al-`Ijly from Thabit Al-Bunany from Anas ibn Malik that the Messenger of Allah (peace b upon him) said: "Anyone who recites Surah Al-Zalzalah will be rewarded for reciting half of the Qur'an; and anyone who recites Surah Al-Kafirun will be rewarded for reciting one fourth of the Qur'an; and anyone who recites Surah Al-Ikhlas will be rewarded for reciting one third of the Qur'an." Abu `Isa said: "This is a Hadith Gharib (a Hadith with a single narrator usually at the beginning of the chain of narration) which we do not know except from the narration of Shaykh Al-Hasan ibn Salam. In the same chapter, it is reported from Ibn `Abbas (Al-Tirmidhy alone related it, and there are no similar narrations of the Hadith)."7- `Aly ibn Hujr reported on the authority of Yazid ibn Harun from Yaman ibn Al-Mughirah Al-`Anzy from `Ata' from Ibn `Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Surah Al-Zalzalah is equivalent to half of the Qur'an. Surah Al-Ikhlas is equivalent to one third of the Qur'an. And Surah Al-Kafirun is equivalent to one fourth (Part No. 3; Page No. 264) of the Qur'an." Abu `Isa said: "This is a Hadith Gharib which we do not know except from the narration of Yaman ibn Al-Mughirah." (Al-Tirmidhy alone related it, and there are no similar narrations of the Hadith).8- Muhammad ibn Marzuq Al-Basry reported on the authority of Hatim ibn Maymun Abu Sahl from Thabit Al-Bunany from Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Anyone who recites Surah Al-Ikhlas two hundred times will have his sins forgiven for fifty years unless he owes a debt." It is reported with the same Sanad from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he said: "Anyone who wishes to go to sleep should lay on his right side then recite Surah Al-Ikhlas a hundred times. Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) will say to him on Resurrection Day, 'O My servant, enter Paradise on your right.'" Abu `Isa said: "This Hadith is a Hadith Gharib from the narration reported by Thabit from Anas. Also, this Hadith has been reported through another chain of transmission on the authority of Thabit in Sunan Al-Tirmidhy. There are no similar narrations of the same Hadith."

A: All the Hadiths you mentioned are not authentic and cannot be ascribed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) according to Al-Tirmidhy and others scholars of Hadith, except for two: A Surah consisting of thirty Ayahs interceded for a man until he was forgiven - Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion (Surah Tabarak). The second is: The Prophet (peace be upon him) would not go to bed until he had recited Surahs Al-Sajdah (Part No. 3; Page No. 265) and Al-Mulk. These are two accepted Hadiths and confirmed by many scholars of Hadith.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
