Q:
Is the following account considered a true Hadith: "He (the Prophet, peace be upon him) cut a piece of meat from the shoulder of a lamb, ate it, and then offered Salah (Prayer)."
A:
It was reported by
Ahmad and
Al-Tabarany in Al-Kabir, on the authority of
`Abdullah ibn Al-Haryth ibn Nawfal, that Um
Hakim bint Al-Zubayr told him:
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entered to
Duba`ah, and cut off a slice of meat from the shoulder of a sheep and ate from it. Then he offered Salah without performing Wudu' (ablution) after eating.
Al-Haythamy said in Majma` Al-Zawa'id: "The Hadith was narrated by Rijal Al-Sahih (narrators of Hadith compiled by Al-Bukhari and/or Muslim)." (Part No. 3; Page No. 277) It was reported by
Imam Ahmad on the authority of
Um Hakim bint Al-Zubayr that she said:
I handed to the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) shoulder meat of which he ate, and then he offered Salah.
He said in Majma` Al-Zawa'id: "Its narrators are Thiqah (trustworthy)."May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
