Q 2: Please advise concerning blood relations and the following Mahrams (unmarriageable relatives):First,
is my mother’s paternal aunt considered a Mahram to me and my sons?
Can we travel with her to
Al-Madinah
and
Makkah?
Second, is my mother's paternal uncle considered a Mahram to my daughters? Are his wives considered Mahrams to me?Third, are his wives considered relatives of mine or Ajnabiyyat (women other than a wife or permanently unmarriageable female relatives)?
A:
Your mother's paternal aunt is considered a Mahram to you; it is permissible for you and your sons to travel with her. Likewise, your mother's paternal uncle is considered a Mahram to your daughters. However, his wives are Ajnabiyyat to you; you are not one of their Mahrams. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
