A: It is Wajib (obligatory) to pay the Zakah to the officers sent by the government (Part No. 8; Page No. 324) and a person, on whom the Zakah is obligatory, should be careful to give the Zakah to them at the due time when they receive it. However, if they do not come to take the Zakah, the owner of the wealth should pay the Zakah due on him to the poor after losing all hope that the Zakah officers will come. A Muslim should abide by Taqwa (fear/wariness of offending Allah) of Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) and should pay the Zakah to the legal recipients.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
