The ruling on paying Zakatul-Fitr,

363

Q 2: Is it permissible for me to pay Zakat-ul-Fitr (obligatory charity paid before the Festival of Breaking the Fast) on behalf of my family? To clarify, I fasted the month of Ramadan in the Eastern region while my family live in the South.

A: Zakat-ul-Fitr should be paid in the place where a person lives. However, (Part No. 9; Page No. 385) in case a person's authorized deputy or guardian pays it in a country other than the one in which they live, this is still permissible.May Allah grant us success. May blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions!
