Q 1: There are certain customs in our country that people follow.
One of them is that when men have given their daughters in marriage, they slaughter a sheep on the night of the wedding; they call this the Girl’s Dinner.
A:
It is prescribed to hold a Walimah (wedding dinner) on the occasion of a marriage to publicize it, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to those of his Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet) who married:
“Hold a Walimah, even with one sheep.”
It is not permissible to be extravagant with the Walimah; it should be within the limits of what is sufficient for those who are invited. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
