Q 1: Which of the two following Ayahs (Qur'anic verses) was the last revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), was it: This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islâm as your religion. Or: And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allâh. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. ? (Part No. 3; Page No. 64)

A: The last Ayah revealed was the Saying of Allah: And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allâh. It was related by Al-Nasa'y on the authority of Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the last Ayah revealed was: And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allâh. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. As for His Saying: This day, I have perfected your religion for you , it was revealed during the Farewell Hajj on the Day of `Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah). It was related by Al-Bukhari, when commenting on this Ayah, from Qays on the authority of Tariq ibn Shihab who said: The Jews said to `Umar, 'You recite an Ayah which, if it had been revealed in relation to us, we would have taken that day as a feast. `Umar said, 'I know the day on which it was revealed and where it was revealed and where the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was when it was revealed. It was revealed on the Day of `Arafah, and by Allah, we were in `Arafah.' (Part No. 3; Page No. 65) May Allah grant us success.
