Q 5: What is the ruling on
women wearing black clothes?
What is the meaning of the saying of the Mother of the Believers,
`Aishah
(may Allah be pleased with her), "...As if there were crows on their heads because of their garments."
(Part No. 17; Page No. 110)
A:
It is permissible for women to wear black clothes and any color of clothing so long as it does not resemble men's clothing. As for the saying of
`Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), "...As if there were crows on their heads because of their garments," it was said in praise of the Muslim women who immediately obeyed the obligation of Hijab (veil). The saying indicates that these clothes were black in color. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
