A:
There is nothing wrong
in discerning children being the iman if among those who are present with them they are the ones who can best recite the Qur’an or memorize more of the Qur’an, according to the report related by
Al-Bukhari in his Sahih (Book of Authentic Hadith) on the authority of
`Amr ibn Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
“When the time for Salah becomes due, one of you should pronounce the Adhan (call for Prayer), and the one who has (memorizes) more of the Qur’an should lead you in Salah.” (‘Amr ibn Salamah said), “So they looked and did not find anyone who memorizes more of the Qur’an than I. So they made me lead them in Salah, when I was a six or seven-year-old boy.”
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
