Placing the right hand over the left one while standing during Salah

427

A: Placing the right hand over the left on the chest while standing during Salah is an authentic Sunnah (supererogatory act of worship following the example of the Prophet): Wa’il ibn Hujr said that he saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) raising his hands when starting Salah and made Takbir (saying: "Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest]"). Then, he (the Prophet) wrapped his cloak around himself and placed his right hand over his left hand. (Reported by Al-Nasa’y, Ibn Hibban and Ibn Khuzaymah) The Hadith is supported by the Hadith narrated on the authority of Qubaysah ibn Hulb Al-Ta'iy from his father and reported by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad through a Hasan (good) Sanad (chain of narrators).May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
