Ruling on a Ma’mum who says, “O Lord, forgive me and my parents” before saying, “Amen'

Q 6: What is the ruling on a Ma’mum (a person being led by an Imam in Prayer) who, before saying: “Amen,” says: “O Lord, forgive me and my parents,” or the like?

A: It was not authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he said that, therefore, it is an innovated matter. It is not permissible because the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Anyone who introduces anything into this matter of ours (Islam) that is not part of it will have it rejected.” In another narration: “Anyone who does an action which is not in accordance with this matter of ours (Islam) will have it rejected.” May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
