Time for offering the Maghrib Prayer

481

Q 1: What is the time limit for offering the Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer if a person is traveling?

A: The time for offering the Maghrib Prayer ends when the red twilight disappears. This is based on the Hadith stating: The time of the Maghrib Prayer is as long as the twilight has not disappeared. (Related by Ahmad in his Musnad [Hadith compilation] and Muslim in his Sahih [authentic] Book of Hadith) This is true unless the traveler wants to combine the Maghrib Prayer with the `Isha' (Night) Prayer; in which case their time limit will extend to midnight.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
