Yawning during Salah

528

Q 2: What should a person do if he yawns in Salah (Prayer)? Should he move his head slightly saying Isti`adhah (seeking refuge with Allah from Satan), knowing that movement is prohibited during Salah?

A: It is not necessary to move the head when uttering Isti`adhah during Salah or other situations. A person should say it subvocally taking into consideration that we have no legal evidence in support of saying Isti`adhah upon yawing whether in Salah or in other situations. Furthermore, the slight movement whilst praying is excused.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
